Start Your Adventure

As I was sitting on a balcony of a mansion last night overlooking the city of Los Angeles, I still had to pinch myself. I was surrounded with employees of BuzzFeed and a writer for Brooklyn Nine – Nine. I was sipping some sort of margarita mix with too much sugar, talking about the type of guys we always seem to fall for. I had this overwhelming sense of happiness and awe which has happened more times than I can count lately.

My life has become a happy routine as of late. I wake up on my Japanese sleeping mat as I’m still sans bed and hear the sounds of my neighbor and her daughter screaming at each other. I tell myself that I’m going to work out but end up spending too  much time trying to decide on my warm weather outfit instead. I head to work, delighted to start my day. I mean, honest to goodness, excited to be going to work. I spend my days surrounded by insanely creative and inspiring people. I spend my days letting my creativity flow and sometimes going on walks around the beautiful Hollywood neighborhood. I feel the sun shining on my face and allow myself to be overly ecstatic about the day.

I can’t imagine going back to before… when I was doing what I thought I should do. I was following this path that I thought I was supposed to follow. But it wasn’t fulfilling.

I don’t believe that finding your dream job is the end game. I believe that refusing to settle and always searching for more is the true definition of happiness. Life is a constant adventure and if you view it any other way, you will always be disappointed.

There’s no single answer for what makes you happy. It’s always changing and evolving. But refusing to stop searching for your happiness is where we will find true triumph.

Knowing what you don’t want is all you need to start the adventure.

So start your adventure. If you don’t feel true joy in your life, if you don’t go to sleep feeling satisfied, and if you feel stuck- start your adventure. In life, if you don’t risk anything, you risk everything.

  1. I love that sentiment, “Knowing what you don’t want is all you need to start the adventure”. Its so much easier for me to decide what I don’t want than what I do. I want to try everything! My life is a process of elimination, and once a discernible pattern emerges I’ll stick to it.

  2. There would be nothing worse that hating your job and hating the life you live. Life involves risk – and change. Embrace it.

I would love your feedback.
